Gyms in Cardiff: the local picture
Cardiff is the capital of Wales and concentrates its government, media and financial activity in a city small enough that the business community is genuinely interconnected. The Welsh Government and the public bodies around it are major buyers, broadcasting at Cardiff Bay supports a substantial production and creative sector, and financial and professional services fill the city centre.
The Welsh language is the point outside vendors most often get wrong. Welsh-language provision is a statutory expectation for public bodies and for anything publicly funded, and a strong cultural expectation well beyond that. It is a content and structural decision that has to be made at the start — retrofitting bilingual content into a site built monolingually is expensive and usually visible.
India is four and a half hours ahead of UK time in winter and five and a half in summer. UK GDPR applies. Accessibility obligations in the Welsh public sector are taken seriously and are contractually enforced rather than merely expected.
Newport and the valleys communities to the north are separate markets with different economics and, in parts, considerable deprivation; treating the wider region as an extension of Cardiff misreads it. The city's cost base is well below London's while its media and creative capability is not, and the local agency scene is small enough that a great deal of Welsh work gets bought from Bristol or London by default rather than by preference.
