What coaches websites have to get right

Independent coaches and consultants sell judgement, which is the hardest thing to evidence on a website. The pages that work are built around demonstrated thinking rather than credentials: a written point of view, worked examples, a clear description of who the engagement is for and — just as usefully — who it is not for. A coach who is specific about their niche converts better than one who claims to help everyone.

The practical structure is a strong about page that reads like a person rather than a brochure, a services page that names the engagement formats and their prices or price bands, and a body of writing that gives search something to index. Discovery-call booking should be one click with a calendar behind it; the friction of an email round-trip loses a meaningful share of interest. Testimonials matter here more than almost anywhere, and they need attribution — a first name and a role at minimum, because anonymous praise reads as invented. If you run cohorts or workshops, each one deserves a dated page that stays up afterwards as a record. The site should also make the delivery model plain: online, in person, or both, and in which time zones.
